Big Bird Box Bonanza Brilliantly Busy
"All Saints' Church in Ripley, part of the newly formed Parish of Cayton, held an open afternoon for bird-box making on Monday 8th May. The event was one of the church's initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental and ecological footprint, and was part of the Coronation's Big Help Out.
The event was attended by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who turned planks of wood into cosy homes for our feathered friends. The target of 30 birdboxes by the end of the day was reached, and they will be put up in the parish’s five churchyards over the coming weeks. They form part of individual churchyard sustainability plans being worked on by a group of church and community volunteers, chaired by The Revd. Linda Boon, Associate Vicar of the Parish of Cayton.
Volunteers on the day also did some brief monitoring and identified Blue Tits, Greenfinch, Song Thrush, Wren, Goldfinch, and Robin song in the area.
"We're thrilled with the turnout and success of the event," said The Revd. Paul Harford, Vicar of the Parish of Cayton. "The event was a great way to bring our community together, and we're excited to continue our work towards making our churchyards more sustainable for wildlife and people. It really shows how we can achieve more by working together."
The event was well-received by the community and showcased the Parish of Cayton's commitment to environmentalism and conservation.
