Meeting Summary, St Andrew’s Church 4th March 2023

In recent meetings, our community explored ways to enhance the sustainability and appeal of St Andrew's churchyard, fostering biodiversity and community engagement. Notably, discussions centered on crafting bird boxes through a family event, with Alan spearheading the initiative, and Helen contributing a crocheted birdhouse for St John’s churchyard. Plans for introducing hedging at St Wilfrid’s, spearheaded by Linda, await confirmation from the Woodland Trust.

Recognizing the need for consistent care across all five churches, a proposal to reach out annually to grave maintainers for financial support was discussed, exemplified by Barrie's efforts. Meanwhile, the 'paddock' area at St Andrew's emerged as a potential site for transformative features like trees and bug hotels.

Concerns were raised about the 'dumping ground' and its potential metamorphosis into a rockery or outdoor prayer station, with cautious signage to prevent misuse. Discussions also delved into the condition of pathways, prompting investigation into renovation possibilities by Janet and Sylvia.

Grass cutting regimes were scrutinized, revealing varied approaches across churches. Linda's research emphasized the need for standardized practices, leading to a proposal for an annual letter seeking funds for upkeep, fostering community involvement.

Throughout, efforts were made to maintain sensitivity to the community, as evidenced by Julia's communication with St Wilfrid’s residents, ensuring ongoing dialogue and collaboration. As we navigate these plans and projects, our commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement remains at the forefront, weaving a tapestry of interconnected efforts across our diverse churchyards.
