Markington Churchyard Autumn tidy up
Volunteers from the Eco group had a great afternoon today tidying up Markington churchyard ready for winter.
By raking up the strimmed grass (as much as time would allow) we helped make sure any wildflower seeds were encouraged back into the soil, as well controlling the fertility of the soil, as wildflowers thrive in poorer soils. By moving fallen leaves and shed tree twigs and branches into piles along some of the walls, we have created a safe and cosy environment for any hibernating/over-wintering bugs and small animals.
A big thank you to those who came along.
